Birch Cliff Lodge, Bancroft Ontario

Birch Cliff Lodge was established over sixty years ago and today it is one of Ontario's most picturesque cottage resorts. The cottages retain much of their original charm, and have now been modernized to contain thermostatically controlled heating and modern, four piece bathrooms .

Birch Cliff Lodge is situated on the shores of Baptiste Lake, ten kilometers from the Village of Bancroft. It is in a wonderful location in a grove of birches, with a magnificent western view of Baptiste Lake.

This lovely lake, from the rising mists of the morning to the glorious sunsets of evening, provides an ideal vacation setting.

The tall birches provide shade on warm summer days for guests to watch all the activities on the waterfront and on the clean, sandy beach and playground.

The kitchens have full size refrigerators and stoves and are stocked with dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. Each cottage has either a screened porch or an open deck with a table and chairs.

Bedrooms are carpeted and linens are supplied. Upon arriving at Birch Cliff you will find your cottage clean and well aired. There will be enough coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, soap and cleaning supplies to get you started.

If you have any special requests please don't hesitate to let us know. The cottages and main lodge face southwest, overlooking Baptiste Lake.

It is an open, breezy location with a natural sand beach. Tall birches provide shade on warm summer days. Magnificent sunsets reflect across the lake bringing the day to a memorable close.

Fishing is popular at Baptiste, one of Southern Ontario's top producing bass, walleye, pike and muskie lakes.

Birch Cliff is located on Baptiste Lake near the Village of Bancroft, about mid-way between Ottawa and Toronto and just south of Algonquin Park.

From Toronto
take hwy 401 east to 115 to 7 (thus bypassing Peterborough and Lakefield) to 28 to Bancroft.

From Montreal/Ottawa
take 417/17 to Renfrew, 132 and 41 to Denbigh, and 28 to Bancroft.

From Bancroft
follow hwy 62 north (the main street) 4 km to the 'Y' Road, go 1 km to stop, turn left on Baptiste Lake South Road 6.5 km to Birch Cliff.

Allow 2 1/2 hours from Ottawa, 3 hours from Toronto.
